TMM Wood Floors (Ted McDonald - 54 Ratlum Road, Barkhamsted, CT 06063) took our family's hardwood flooring deposit (50% - $1,850) and never returned to start the project. Ted was polite, professional, and seemingly knowledgeable about his trade, however, he took our money and has not refunded us. My wife and I hired Ted McDonald dba TMM Wood Floors to install and finish brand new red oak hardwood flooring in our kitchen and den, however, on his scheduled start date he called to explain that a "mix-up" at his supplier prevented him from picking up our hardwood. He apologized and said that a new order had been placed so he could start our project a few days later. Next, we asked him about acclimating the hardwood flooring material in our house for a few days prior to installation. He commented that it was unnecessary due to the cooler Fall weather in CT, however, his perspective did not align with industry best practices since hardwood acclimation is a function of a home's temperature & humidity...not the seasonal weather. At this point we became concerned about our project, and after several more excuses (further delaying our kitchen renovation that involved 3 kids under the age of 10 living in half a house), we called it quits and asked for a refund. Ted agreed to part ways and explained that a refund for our 50% deposit would be mailed out within the week. 8 weeks later we have not seen our money, nor have we heard from Ted McDonald dba TMM Wood Floors.
