After graduating from NYI in 1981, Steve then worked for commercial photographer Arnold Katz of New York, learning the craft of large format photography, shooting books for catalogs, developing 4x5 and 8x10 sheet film, and assisting in a high-volume commercial studio. Enjoying the creative potential of darkroom techniques, Steve first studied black and white photography in the Seventies and Eighties, corresponding with the late Mr. Ansel Adams via our black and white postcards. Mr. Adams "exposed" Steve to Cold Light printing, lens characteristics, and various darkroom techniques.
