My experience with Phil was by far the worst I've encountered with any service provider in any industry in my entire life. Despite submitting all required documents correctly and on time, he consistently missed deadlines and made critical errors in calculating all three of my federal, state, and county taxes (Florida). Communication with Phil was a nightmare. I had to incessantly call and email, often receiving delayed or no responses. There were times when he went on extended vacations without notifying me, leaving me in limbo and causing unnecessary stress, even as tax deadlines passed. His lack of responsiveness directly resulted in missed deadlines and incurred penalties on all three taxes and a near lien on my Florida property. When confronted about these issues, he became defensive and rude, even hanging up on me instead of addressing my legitimate concerns. Phil's incompetence in tax filings was shocking. Despite claiming expertise in Florida and Lee County rental laws, he made egregious errors that I had to rectify myself. He claimed that my state and county taxes were not his responsibility, claiming it was a courtesy when it was actually part of the service I had paid for and explicitly discussed at the outset. It was the most important part of the service to me and the first thing I asked upon contacting him. Moreover, he failed to meet any of the three tax deadlines without even a phone call/e-mail as he missed them to go on vacations to the Caribbean and South Carolina, compounding my anxiety and forcing me to consider alternative options at the last minute. Overall, Phil's unprofessional conduct and lack of competence caused significant stress and financial strain. Despite paying for his services, I ended up spending additional time and money fixing his mistakes, ultimately having to handle the state and county filings on my own. Despite him not completing the services I paid him for, missing deadlines and having to pay penalties on all three taxes, he scoffed at my request for a refund. He said the errors caused him uncounted hours of unbillable time that he could not get back (again I eventually filed these taxes myself). I strongly advise against using Phil for any tax-related matters. His lack of accountability, poor communication skills, and numerous errors demonstrate a blatant disregard for his clients' time and money. If you value reliable and competent tax assistance, I urge you to seek services elsewhere. It is time for him to retire.
