The Save the Prairie Society was formed almost 40 years ago to advocate for the saving of Wolf Road Prairie. We were successful in raising funds and purchasing strategic lots in this 10,000 year old prairie/marsh/savanna ecosystem to "hold" until a cooperative effort by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Cook County Forest Preserve District secured the land for the public.
