A thorough history and physical examination is carried out. Appropriate laboratory studies are ordered and a follow-up appointment is made to review findings. Recommendation for nutrition, exercise,and medications, and further investigations are determined by the results of the initial testing. Active involvement of the the patient in her/his healthcare maintenance is strongly encouraged.
