I contacted Russ Cooper Associates regarding a position for hire ad they posted for Assistant Project Manager. I am well qualified for the position as I have many years of commercial projects and a list of completed projects around the country for big brand names. I was invited for an interview on Kiawah at a project they were currently working on 8/27. Spent 5 hours walking the property and riding to other service calls during my interview, and ultimately was offered the position. On. 8/29 I met at the owners home and went over final details, paperwork, and received shirts with company logo. 8/31 was my first day, I arrived early as I needed to obtain a pass for the gate, was then rerouted 15 miles back to a storage unit where I needed to leave my vehicle and take another to go retrieve crew members that were unable to get to work. We get to the site and up to this point I have asked for a set of blueprints or credentials to the system that has them multiple times, never received them. Was thrown into the middle of the project expected to perform with everyone else (not a project managers duty even with blueprints). I bit down and still performed the tasks asked of me and did introductions with the other crews. End of day had to drive crew members home, return to storage and get my vehicle. Went home and received a call from Russ Cooper saying it wasn't going to work out, when I asked why he stated the chemistry wasn't there. This excuse was made again after spending 5 hours on interview day with him, almost an hour on day 2 at his home with his wife, and the day of work I seen him approximately 2 times for a total of 20 minutes. This is just my personal experience and doesn't mention the disorganization of job site, multiple safety issues on site, and more I seen. They are good people but have unorthodox business practices, proceed with caution.
