Keymax Settlement Services was hired as title company on the sale of my property located in Pleasant Hills, PA. They were instructed to pay the cost of a home warranty policy from closing proceeds for the buyer. Several weeks after closing, when the new home owner attempted to file a claim via that policy, he was told he could not - the policy had never been paid. When contacted, Keymax employees backpedaled, refused to claim responsibility, and refused to correct the matter until told I would file a complaint against their agency. Then they finally agreed to issue a check to correct the problem. After several days, when I was told the policy still hadn't been covered, I paid it myself via credit card in order to ensure the new homeowner could process his claim. I was told (in writing) by Jana Connolly of Keymax that rather than send payment to the warranty company, they would issue a reimbursement check directly to me. As of today, that check has not arrived. Keymax charged a fee to perform a service. Whether due to negligence or incompetence, they failed to properly complete that service. When their error was discovered, their staff not only refused to correct the problem, leaving the homebuyer without the protection they were entitled to receive, but refused to provide the names of regulatory bodies that govern their industry so we could seek other remedies.
