Specializing in the care of a broad range of individuals who have generally been labeled "chronically mentally ill". Buckeye Family opened its first facility on February 1, 1980. Since then, we have continued to specialize in the care of a broad range of individuals who have generally been labeled "chronically mentally ill" and are also labeled as "severely mentally disabled". We treat those residents simply as people with problems and we go the extra mile to help develop positive solutions. Our Mission: We believe that most individuals can be provided with appropriate residential care and treatment without being institutionalized. Our facilities provide a much more normal and less restrictive environment than placement in state institutions. And, our experience has demonstrated that maintenance of stability, and improvement in function are both possible and common in a "home like" atmosphere, and the therapeutic approach that we provide. We believe that individuals must grow through interpersonal relationships.
