Our contract with Tom Philips and Hardwood Restoration began over half a year ago in the spring of 2011, and while he gladly took the check for payment, he left the work undone, our floors in embarrassing condition, and numerous calls unanswered and ignored. He and his company represent every homeowner's fear when looking for contractors to fix up their home - he took the money, and won’t return our calls. He is one of those dishonest contractoors to STAY AWAY from at all costs, unless you want the heartache and headaches that come with protracted false representations, nonexistent customer service. Other online reviews (which we wish we'd seen before!) show that we're not the only one that this has happened to - Tom likes to take the money and run without finishing the project, and refuses to return calls afterwards. Tom left an enormous gaping hole about 4 feet square in our attic, complete with wood splinters and wiring, rendering that area of our home dangerous and unusable. The first thing visitors see is our duct taped front step, partially sanded and stained in patches of different colors, as Tom left it. Our house is worse off for having Tom in it - we strongly advise any potential customers to reconsider engaging him. Unless you're a fan of heartaches, headaches, and being given the run around (progressively weaker excuses and unconvincing promises that eventually fade into a refusal to provide any excuse or promise whatsoever!), I'd advise others to stay away!
