Evan Anderman's diverse background as an earth scientist helps to guide his photographic vision of the natural landscape. I believe that nature is inherently beautiful. The building blocks of my work are the lines, patterns, repetition, color, and contrast that provide a kind of order to the chaos that is nature. I isolate particular elements in a simple, sometimes abstract, composition, cutting out all the noise, taking the tree out of the forest. I distill the whole down to the form, the sensuous anthropomorphic composition in a timeless and scaleless representation. I love to discover forms at any scale, from the microscopic veins in a leaf to the macroscopic fractures in a rock face. I try to provoke the viewer to see something in a way that they may not have seen before. If you see an object in my work and put a word to it, I have failed.
