I have been in business since 1981. I was trained by Virgil Smith, former piano technician for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In 1995, I became a Registered Piano Technician. To become a registerd technician you must pass a series of rigorous tests adminstered by the Piano Technicians Guild. There are fewer than 3000 registered piano technicians in the US and Canada.
