I cannot recommend McDonald General Contractors to anyone. I would advise anyone to stay away from him. Duane McDonald has proved himself to be dishonest and deceitful. I recently hired him in 2021 to remodel my home and things quickly took a turn for the worse. He broke many of the contractors state licensing board rules, invoiced us under false pretense for work that was never performed, and fraudulently invoiced us for material that was never purchased. He double-billed us for work and material that was never purchased /performed. He invoiced us for high-quality materials while providing low-end materials. After being paid in full for the remodel, he abandoned the job while far from complete. Furthermore, he failed to pay subcontractors and vendors for work that he charged us for. To top it all off, he lied to us stating that proper plans had been submitted to the city of Newport Beach and our HOA when this was not true. Overall, I would stay away from McDonald General Contractors. Please do the research so you do not end up in the same situation we are in. We have an unfinished house that we are unable to live in and are now having to pay again to have another company finish it for us. We have been out of our house for almost 2 years with no end in. This has been a true nightmare for our family.
