These guys were contracted by Boone county to resurface the roadway on the south end of Alfalfa Rd North of Columbia. I happen to live in the middle of the roadway work that they were responsible for. Starting on Wednesday September 15th and concluding Tuesday the 21st, they proceeded to grind large sections of road surface down to the base concrete, leaving sharp straight cut edges across the roadway that dipped down sharply before immediately going straight up. I'd estimate 3" of height, the county tells me it should be closer to two, Christensen claims 1.5" downgrade. They did this in eight different spots just in the distance I had to travel up it to get to my street on my way home from work. They created adverse roadway hazards, and did not put out any signs, nor even a simple cone, until after my complaint to the county, at which point they put out a solitary cone on the side of the road where the construction began. On my way home from work, on the evening of Wednesday the 15th, with no warning at all, travelling at the speed limit northbound from Oakland Gravel Road, I collided with the first of the eight hazards, at speed, hard enough that I nearly lost control of my truck, after which I had loud clunking from my front suspension on every turn. I immediately contacted Jeff Cann at Boone County Resource Management the next morning, when my technician told me that it appeared that the impact had broken the cages in my front lower ball joints, and handed me an estimate for 836.93 dollars to repair them, and provided photos of the unmarked road work, the heavy equipment parked in the middle of our public road without signage, Which could have easily caused a wreck as it choked the road to one lane and you could not see around the excavator to tell if it was safe to go around it, and even the skid loader they parked in my neighbors front yard without even asking, much less getting, permission. Jeff referred me to Kenny with Christensen Construction to file a claim for the damage, and initially they behaved like they were going to take care of it, even asking for the name of the repair shop "so they knew who to write the check to." After which, they were non-responsive for a week, before today, Friday September 24th, Kenny calls me to tell me that "After reviewing, regardless of the lack of signage, we have decided that we don't believe that the damage could have been caused by our work unless your ball joints were already weak, and are therefore denying the claim." after which Kenny refused to put that statement into writing, and essentially told me to kick rocks. This truck has been meticulously maintained, I drive like I'm elderly, and is my primary means of transportation, so for me to have to pay over 800 dollars to repair an issue that was very clearly caused by these irresponsible actors, and could have been prevented with even the most basic signage, is just an outright slap in the face.
