We moved here (close to the Cardiff, MD Shop-rite store) about 2.5 years ago and we have spent a minimum of around $500/week there and often much more. Since that time, we've returned and complained about innumerable expired and/or rotten items on the shelves. These obviously perished "perishable" goods have ranged from snow crab to london broil to chicken (in all forms) to ground beef to bakery items (expired by as much as 5 months!!!) to produce. Clearly, there is NO QUALITY quality control in the store! We were very surprised to learn that the store has approximately 150 employees. One would think that at least a few of these would be literate and capable of checking expiration dates on products in what is, really, a tiny grocery store. I went there tonight to complain about a can of rotten tuna which exploded in my face. I was offered a $15 gift card for my trouble but refused it as bribery. We are appalled and disgusted. We are tired of being sold expired goods. We WILL follow up with ALL of the relevant authorities including the FDA and the Health Department. Oh...and I recorded my conversation with the store manager tonight for posterity in case anybody would like to hear it. He admitted, in the course of our conversation, to several occasions on which we'd complained about spoiled/expired goods. He also admitted that it was a problem in the store. Beware buyers.
