I am in the process of renovating my home and I had contacted Metro NY Insulation for a quote to find out what the cost difference would be between doing the Cellulose insulation and the Fiberglass Batts ( which was already a lump sum by my Contractor). . However, when he told me that their method for insulation was to cut holes in the sheetrock and blow it in, I was shocked. My walls are OPEN ! Why would I sheetrock, then have someone cut holes in my brand new Walls ? (other Companies have told me that for new Construction, they put up netting, filled the the netting with the Cellulose and the wall is sheetrocked, which makes alot more sense.) When I told him I wasn't interested, due to his method of installation, he suggested that at a minimal I should do air sealing of the joints and beams and fire caulking. Howard Falkow sent me an agreement, which I signed and sent back. Several Days before he was to start the job, he sends me an email, stating that He Can Not do the job for the Contract Price and that unless I agree to PAY 100% more (DOUBLE the Original Quoted PRICE). He refused to do the work, How Can ANYONE underestimate a Job by 100% ????
