Many years ago, I needed some work done on a basement which included partitions, adding a bathroom, bar sink... I met this contractor named Buddy Payne, that seemed so nice. I was immediately attracted by his constant mentioning of God and how much of a Christian he said he was and that was the standard he appeared to represent. Like a fool, I took his so-called Christian lingo to heart. Actually, Christmas was approximately 3 weeks away, and I decided to pay him the full amount in advance so that he and his family could at least enjoy a great Christmas. I never checked his references, back then to look at his reputation with the builder's association till afterwards when he showed up 3 more times to do horrible work that was out of code. Not only did he have a terrible track record, I met someone else trying to sue him because he took him for food as well. I was devastated, hurt, disappointed. I got an attorney named Rangle, who has since passed away I believe. Attorney Rangle tried to contact him numerous times to settle, but the only thing Buddy Payne would tell my attorney was that he was a Christian. My attorney said he was full of hogwash because if he was such a wonderful Christian, he would stop saying it, and prove it by his actions. Well, we went to court several times, and Mr. Payne never showed his face. I ended up putting a lean on his property (8 acres). The court granted me a judgement for him to pay me everything he owed. Well, a couple years ago, he finally paid me 40 % of the amount of the judgement. That same day, I told him, I felt he was taking me for a fool again with his pity party. He claimed he really didn't have any money, or equipment to give me in leu of, He claims he had to borrow the little he did give me. He promised that as soon as he was financially better, he would pay the balance of the judgement. He has proven that he has no sense of honesty, integrity. It is all about him, him, himself! I am still waiting for him to keep his Christian word!!!I have tried to be nice to him in spite of it all. They say kindness takes away ill feelings. I even sent him and his wife a wedding gift, which they never acknowledged or even said thanks. But I guess, that is who he is. Anyone out there dealing with contractors, don't believe it when they constantly say they are a Christian. Let them prove it by their actions. I have never been able to finish that project I started many years ago. I still have prayer warriors praying for Buddy Payne for him to be a Christian man of integrity before the year ends. I have an account at Smart Bank. I am praying a deposit will be made before the first of the year so finish what we started.   Who knows, maybe God will send an angel who will bless me. Lord knows we need it.
