Opus Performing Arts is a dance and music school in downtown Bellingham WA offering ballet, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop classes for ages 5 to adult.

At the core of our dance program is ballet. Basic ballet technique is the foundation for all dance. A solid, strong technique shapes a dancer in body and form and enables them to easily transition from one dance style to another making the dancer adaptable to choreography. A solid, strong technique shapes a dancer in body and form and enables them to easily transition from one dance style to another making the dancer adaptable to choreography. Our dance program is divided into 2 categories— Pre-Professional and Recreational. Recreational Dance Program Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap are just some of the dance classes available to students enrolled in the recreational program. Classes generally are offered once per week. Placement in upper levels is based on experience and partly on age and therefore is subject to the discretion of the teacher. We strongly encourage students to study ballet to enhance training in other dance styles. Ballet in this program may be used as an introduction to ballet for older students. Students will have opportunities to perform. Participation in our seasonal ballet productions will be optional and by audition only. Rehearsals for these performances are additional to this program and held outside of class time. Pre-Professional Dance Program Opus offers more serious dance students a carefully guided curriculum of study with quality instruction and individualized attention. All students enrolled in the Pre-Professional Program are expected to attend the number of ballet classes for their respective level. An increased expectation in time commitment comes with progression through the levels. Placement in the appropriate level is at the discretion of the teacher. Students will have the option to participate in performances. All rehearsals for those performances are additional to this program and will be held outside of class time.
