Doug Crites is an excellent personal guitar teacher, both in an individual or group lesson setting. He is calm and patient, excellent qualities for a beginner and very knowledgeable and experienced for the more advanced student (all ages). He is well known in this area and is very reputable.

I met Doug through my sister in law that has been taking lessons with him for a lot of years and its remarkable all what she plays now. When I went there to visit my brother, my sister in law noticed I liked guitar took me to one of his lessons with her and introduced me. I only did two sessions that summer but that expanded me to be a mediocre guitarist now. Ever since then I've kept up with it. He gives you a paper to start out and goes from there show you ways placing fingers, strum, and keep rhythm. Doug is amazing guy. Super friendly and easy to talk too. He'll even talk about his past see if it relates to you and if it doesn't he is a great listener. But after the end of two sessions you two would be friends I guarantee that. Doug Crites is the first person I recommend to learn a instrument from or anything bout music.
