The author exhibited exceptional compassion for and spent much time with orphans and underprivileged children; particularly in the Philippines and Vietnam. Anchors and Eagles details peacetime and wartime experiences. It is a very revealing book in which the Author is totally candid as he describes things that most who served would likely never divulge.
