It includes situations that affected the interface, understanding, conflict, and cooperation between officers and enlisted men of all grades. It describes hardworking enlisted men who never expected a great deal of gratitude but sometimes allowed their inner frustrations to become more outwardly apparent while on leave or liberty ashore. The author exhibited exceptional compassion for and spent much time with orphans and underprivileged children; particularly in the Philippines and Vietnam. Anchors and Eagles details peacetime and wartime experiences. It is a very revealing book in which the Author is totally candid as he describes things that most who served would likely never divulge.
