Ed Martinez is owner and Senior Advisor of EPM Services and is based in Atlanta. Ed has deep experience and expertise in the design, implementation and operation of large-scale shared service operations and operational excellence. Ed’s experience includes M&A transitions, cross functional integration and standardization, governance, cost management, benchmarking, performance management and metrics, change management, project leadership, organizational design and transformational Improvements across multiple industries and functional disciplines.
Ed has served in numerous leadership roles in multiple companies, including The Wendy’s Company, The Wendy’s/Arby’s Group, BellSouth Corporation and Affiliates, and AT&T. Ed served as a leader and change agent in critical transformation initiatives including designing, implementing and operating three different successful multi-function shared services organizations. Ed’s experience includes mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, interim BPO service delivery under transition agreements, process re-engineering, deregulation, financial planning and analytics, operational audits, and organization design for both start–ups and existing operations.
Ed was recently VP of The Wendy’s Company Shared Services, where he led the design, implementation and management of a new Shared Services Center. This effort was done in conjunction with the merger and integration of Wendy’s and Arby’s brands and drove 30% annual savings in less than a year after the project’s initiation. The Wendy’s/Arby’s Shared Services Center won the Shared Services & Outsourcing Network’s (SSON) 2011 Excellence Award in Value Creation. Ed also led projects to divest the Arby’s business and move Wendy’s headquarters and services functions to a different location.
Prior to Wendy’s, Ed was VP Finance with AT&T and President of BellSouth Affiliate Services Corporation, the award-winning BellSouth Multi-Function Shared Services Center. Ed was the primary driver in creating and selling the vision of the enterprise-wide Services Center, which supported over 30 affiliates and drove 55% cost reductions in the first six years, equating to ongoing annual savings of over $30 million per year. The Services Center also achieved “Best in Class” customer satisfaction and benchmarking scores, and BellSouth won the SSON award for 2005 Best Mature Shared Services Center.
