Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley Family Practice Residency Program Based in Winchester, Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley Family Practice Residency Program maintains full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, a nonprofit group that ensures high standards in graduate education for medical residents in the United States. The program operates in conjunction with the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, as well as the Medical College of Virginia, and offers a full range of resources and support.
Residents receive real-world training in area medical facilities, including the 411-bed Winchester Medical Center, which also houses a cancer center, heart institute, and trauma center, and the 76-bed Warren Memorial Hospital, which offers residents experience in practicing medicine in a rural setting.
Among other programs of study available at the Family Practice Residency Program, the dually accredited osteopathic course of study offers residents a chance to use the skills gained in medical school in a hospital setting. In addition, residents benefit from an available archive of several online lecture courses to further supplement their experience.
