Stone Mill Strength and Conditioning brings functional fitness to central IL. Living a healthier lifestyle is something we all strive to do. But, first of all - what is fitness? and how does fitness become "functional"?
Who is Fit? Maybe you think of someone who is very strong, a professional athlete, or someone who is really focused on their diet. Let's be honest - all of us want to look better in our bikinis and board shorts. But what's the purpose of looking good at the expense of feeling good? Or constantly being hungry or tired?
At Stone Mill, we believe in a comprehensive approach to fitness. We offer a reliable place to invest your sweat equity for a great workout in a fun atmosphere. But more importantly, we encourage you to improve in all facets of fitness - to get stronger, to move how your body is built to move, to eat for better health, to sleep and recover better.
We measure progress by results, not by the scale. Tracking your weight is a very old-school way of measuring your health and fitness level. Is there a correlation between how healthy someone is and their weight? Sure - anyone would agree that if you're "overweight" by the CDC's standards, for example, you're more likely to be unhealthy. But a simple correlation does not provide a solution.
The solution is in our fitness program. Our physical training attacks all elements of fitness. As a member of Stone Mill, you'll have access to challenging classes - approximately 1 hour in duration, guided by an experienced-instructor(this is different than Zumba or traditional dance classes). In general, each class contains 3 elements - an active warm-up, a training element, and a cool-down period. We take a conscientious approach to building our program to ensure that you have the best opportunity to achieve your goals.
Enter "Functional". If you were a professional volleyball player or an Olympic sprinter, your training regimen would reflect your sport. At Stone Mill, our aim is that your physical training translates to a healthy lifestyle. Functional means the exercises and movements performed during classes mimic movements you perform in your day-to-day life - squatting below parallel, moving weight overhead, etc.
Our training adapts to your ability level. Train locally or remotely with our online services. In-home training available in select areas.
