Somehow, the replacement key I’d got managed to break in about two weeks. The worst part was that it just didn’t break at some random place, it broke inside the lock. So now there were pieces of the key stuck in the lock which made it impossible for me to operate it with the spare I had. I called East Elmhurst Locksmith Store on 347-897-6376! They were about the only ones who were open late at night, according to my neighbor. And sure enough, a rep answered my call and assured me of sending help right away. Within minutes, there was a locksmith at my doorstep. David was careful not to damage the lock while he extracted the broken pieces. He took one look at it and asked me if I’d got it made at a hardware shop. I did, yes, but how did he know that? Apparently, such stores use low-grade material and improper techniques to cut keys, hence, the absurdly short life. David got a new key made right there and I could definitely make out the difference in terms of quality. To my surprise, all this cost me less than what I’d paid at the store…. I just moved to a new place and I noticed that previous tenant had been coming back to get his mail. So I figured why not change the mailbox lock and also get the locks to my door re-keyed. The work was quick despite problems with my fancy Omnia locks. He gets the job done and I'm good to go. He even grinded the deadbolt hole to make the lock easier to turn. Wow, just wow. Had to update this - a couple nights after Mike fixed the cylinder lock, I had trouble getting in (turns out my door and inside lock needed to be replaced). I called Mike to see if he could assist. I was eventually able to get myself in, but Mike still insisted on coming by to see if there was any further adjustments he could make. He eventually replaced the entire inside lock with a spare (which he didnt' have to do), made some adjustments to how the lock hits my door frame and didn't charge me anything for his time in doing this. Let me stress that Mike had already fixed the cylinder lock the first time; this extra work was his awesome and generous service in full effect. I cannot remember the last time I had service this great. East Elmhurst Locksmith Store is the BEST!!!!
