Michael Rhodes, MD, FACS, FCCM, is a trauma surgeon currently practicing with the Christiana Care Health System, located in Wilmington, Delaware. A pioneer in his field, he has over forty years of experience in his field and worked to develop the first medical evacuation helicopter program in the United States. He was educated at Hahnemann University Medical College and completed an internship at Lehigh Valley Hospital. A fellow of the Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Services, he specialized in trauma and critical care. Dr. Rhodes is diplomat board certified in acute care surgery, and holds a membership in the Eastern Association of Trauma Surgery. For all of his hard work, he received the Teacher of the Year Honors and has published over seventy articles and four books in his fields of interest. Dr. Rhodes was President of the Eastern Association of Surgical Trauma in 1993, and formerly servced as Vice President of the American Association of Surgical Trauma. He is currently engrossed in four areas of research: genomic medicine for advances in cancer treatment and DNA; hyperbaric oxygen for minimizing the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and stroke; telemedicine and the value of telehealth for obtaining information via Internet; and contamination of our food for decontaminating food methods.
