Your physical therapist will utilize a standard process to gain an understanding of your particular situation, and then create a customized treatment program. Treatment Begins with an evaluation by a licensed physical therapists to asses your condition. Your therapist may ask questions about your medical history, your injury or disability, and related items. Next, the physical therapist will make measures and observations regarding the condition to be treated. The physical therapist will consider your condition, test results and goals to then present you with education regarding the anticipated treatment progression, frequency (number of sessions per week) and duration (total number of weeks). Treatments may include modalities such as heat, ice, mild electrical stimulation, ultrasound, or massage to facilitate your healing. Your therapist can also instruct you on ways to minimize the chances of causing a recurring injury.
