I used to just work with brain injured victims and although this was very satisfying, I have a whole new perspective as a survivor. That is right, I am a survivor of a drunk driving and hit and run accident that left me, not only with a brain injury, but other life threatening injuries. As a wife and mother of 4, I would spend the next 4 months in 3 different hospitals, learning how to become, not a victim, but a survivor. This proves to be a challenge everyday, but I continue to learn. It is important not only for me, my family, my husband, and my children, but also for others. This is why I have put this website together. It is not only a FREE resource for everyone to go to, but also a place to reach others in your same position. Advocacy is so very important, I know that now more then ever. I know I survived my accident for many reasons, to continue to be a best friend and wife to my husband, and a mother to our 4 children, but also a teacher, one who tells a story of survival and of learning how to do things differently and in new ways. Also though of what not to do behind the wheel and why. The lady who hit me was 60 yrs. old and could be anyone's grandmother. She changed my life and that of my husband and children as well, but beyond the daily pain I am in, I am not going to let her take my determination too.
