Our soap business came to be because of our desire to create the best possible handcrafted soap that we could make. I had been making soap for almost twenty years as a hobby at that time so I had some experiences to draw from. Primarily, I wanted to create a soap that would end my struggle with dry skin, forever. I had tried some very nice handmade soap products, but one dissolved more quickly than I wanted; another's fragrance faded almost immediately. When I emerged from my search for the perfect recipe I had made exactly one-hundred sample batches...and discarded buckets and buckets of soap that couldn't make the cut. With trial and error and the assistance of soapmaking software I developed the recipe that we use today.
The primary ingredient in our recipe is Olive Oil. We use coconut oil for lather, and other oils like Palm Fruit Oil, Castor Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and Shea Butter to add additional emollients. We use computer software to evaluate the soap on four different levels. Those are moisturizing, fluffy lather, stable lather, and hardness. Also, glycerin is created in the soapmaking process and you will find from a quick internet search that some companies remove the glycerin from their soaps and sell it separately. I have read that the by-product glycerin is actually more valuable than the soap. Our handmade soap still retains the natural glycerin which is a humectant. A humectant draws moisture to your skin so when you have finished your shower and dried you will feel like you have applied a nice lotion...it is called "the hand lotion effect."
So, with our final recipe in hand we began marketing our soap products in 2007. We have both wholesale and retail customers and have truly enjoyed all of the people we have met. Our fragrances include Almond; Anise (fishermen & bear hunters like this one); Blue Sky; Cedar, Sage & Sweetgrass; Citrus Splash; Dog Shampoo (with lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree oil, and cedarwood to discourage insects); Dragon's Blood; Fragrance Free; Goat milk Vanilla; Hyacinth; Lemon Grass; Lemon Grass & Green Tea; Lilac; Monkey Farts (just for fun); Oatmeal, Milk & Honey; Patchouli; Pine; Red Clover Tea; Sandalwood; Spearmint, and Sweetgrass Tea.
We hope you will try our product with confidence knowing that your satisfaction is our primary goal.
