This 160 member strong, chartered unit of the national American Legion organization serves Islip's vets, youth and communities. Mission The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress as a patriotic organization of wartime ex-military members devoted to mutual helpfulness. We are the nations largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs, advocating for patriotism and honor, the promotion of a strong national security and devotion to our community, fellow service members and veterans.
