The Race Against Teen Violence is designed to address issues of teen violence and the effects of teen violence on the victim, the families involved th We hope to bring a continued awareness about the issue of teen violence and its effects on the victims, the families involved, and the community as a whole. The event is a memorial to Baron "Deuce" P. Braswell II, a 16-year-old student athlete at Courtland High School, who lost his life in a senseless act of teen violence on January 20, 2006. Proceeds from the event support the Baron "Deuce" P. Braswell II Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund awards scholarships to high school seniors from the city of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, and Caroline Counties, who have excelled in both academics and athletics. Thus far, in association with Pratt Medical Center we have awarded approximately $ 90,000.00 in scholarships and awards.
