I have been taking classes for two years and have learned so much not only in karate, but also character building, focus skills, etc. This is the best Dojo around with an experienced instructor.

Carla's Mumei Dojo is an accomplished, professional dojo. The students are trained to respect the teachers and each other. I have seen very shy, timid students become confident and self-assured of their accomplishments through Carla's positive attitude. Students always receive positive reinforcement and they attain their goals, (surprising themselves).

My 11 year old son has been a student at Mumei Dojo for 5 1/2 years. Kyoshi Carla is wonderful. My son has learned discipline, self control, confidence and excels at school as well as other sports. He plays baseball, basketball, soccer, football, is a High Honors student and plays the trumpet. Karate is a life style for him. He has won many trophies and medals at tournaments including 3 Grand Championships and also won a silver medal at the Pa Olympics. I would recommend Mumei Dojo to anybody who has a child. Self defense and discipline are critical to their survival in this world.

I am sempai of the dojo, I must say that Kyoshi Carla is one of the best and most respected martial artists I have ever trained with. She has well over 32+ years in the arts, also has trained in Okinawa Japan with best, and a lot of tradional knowledge to offer to her students. Someday I can only hope that I can reach a level that she has reached and continuing to pursue. I wanted to add also that she exposes her students to only the best instructors in the world such as Hanshi Heilman and Kyoshi Heilman and Morio Higaonna and also Chuck Merriman, which are world renoun people. Simply put, I can only say positive things about her and the dojo she runs. She has helped me be a better person and student!!!

I was one of Carla's first gymnastic and dance students when she opened her school over 30 years ago. I grew up and had my own children which of course I enrolled in the Mumei Dojo. While watching my children train, I developed the desire to try martial arts myself for my own health and fitness. It turned out to be one of my greatest accomplishments of my life (of course besides being the parent to 3 terrific kids). I trained with all ages and all abilities. Eventually, I achieved my Black Belt.. Along with the physical fitness, I achieved self confidence, humility, respect and integrity. The Mumei Dojo is and always will be my Karate family.
