Acting was always my first love, but life sometimes takes you somewhere else, and I did pretty well in another area of the industry. I am a little older now, and I'm financially all right, so I decided to give acting another go. I have a friend who told me about Meisner, and about The Acting Corps. I never knew acting could be like this! I loved the place, and I loved their accelerated Meisner program. This is NOT one of those two year places that don't even let you do scene work for months, there was cold reading week one. I can't say enough about them!

I loved my time at the acting corps. It was an immersive experience like none other I have experienced. The program five days a week, but I also did the "Daily Acting Workout," which is an extra class before main class. It basically allowed me to be on your feet, applying the things I learned in class. Extra practice, but more then that. I loved that it got me going in the morning, so when it was class time, I was already in the zone!

The A.C. is a great place to study acting. You have your Meisner and scene study, but my favorite enjoyed class is called "The Actor's Instrument." It's about voice and movement, which are the basic building blocks of performance. People worry so much about the lines and emotions, but the body is such a big part of a role. I was a bit tense when I acted, thus was not really living in my body, and this class really helped me with that. It helped me become aware of things I was doing that were just me and not the character, and sometimes very distracting to the audience.

I did the two Boot Camp programs awhile back, and I learned a lot. I never knew how much until later. I will explain. The main teacher there, Eugene, put together this giant showcase for some of the students, and I was one of them. There were about thirty agents and managers there, and they were good ones, NOT the kind that look for talent on LA Casting. So I did this showcase, and I took two meetings with agents, and got two offers. And I signed with one of them. I auditioned after that, and soon booked my first TV costar role. I couldn't have done it without my agent, and I never would have had an agent if not for my training and the Acting Corps. I have to be honest, I did not know how hard it is to get an agent until I realized that most of my friends do not have one. So there are two things they need to be thanked for, the training, and the chance to show it to people that matter. If I win an Oscar someday, I will thank them.

Learning The Meisner Technique was when it all started making sense for me. After obtaining a degree in Theater Arts and taking other acting classes around Los Angeles, it finally came together for me when I studied here at The Acing Corps. For me it does not get any better than this. If this technique appeals to you, then this is one of the best places to study. I was happy to learn The Meisner Technique without taking two years of my life to do so, which is what you will do if you go through the "classic" program at other schools. This is much better. Everyone has to find their own tools and technique, however I highly recommend the school.

I lean can only learn acting by acting, not watching. I hate to say this, but sometimes I become very board watching other people do scenes, especially if they are not that good. Yes, it's cool to see the improvement as they are taught, but even so. Though I do like an audience. My point is that I lean by doing, and at The Acting Corps, every student gets up and acts in every single class! I think that is VERY important. There are no off weeks in which you can lean by watching other people. I guess you can learn something, and I do know people that love watching, but it's not for me. Every actor is different and the notes that the guy before me gets might no, and probably will not, be the same notes I need. I am more charactery then most. I need to go smaller and he needs to go bigger, if I take his notes, I'm screwed, I will be over the top. So anyway, I loved The Acting Corps. And I worked in every class. It's a great place.

It just seem like yesterday I was a 12-year-old that had a dream to be an actor. It was a dream, and I did not know if I would have the courage to go after it. Now here I am, years later, and now that I have finished the boot camp programs at The Acting Corps, I know I can do it, and I know it i™s the path I want to follow. I have started to have the most greatest opportunity of my life I am so blessed for everything I learned in the classes! They made the impossible possible.
