Beware of Predatory Practices - Overcharged and Held Hostage On August 18, 2025, our Freightliner truck ended up in a ditch, and we called Burdick Boys for help with towing and recovery. What should have been straightforward assistance turned into a nightmare of unethical behavior. Despite our driver asking multiple times for a cost estimate before any work started, they refused to provide one-either verbally or in writing. We never authorized the services without knowing the fees upfront. After the recovery, they slapped us with a shocking $9,500 invoice: $8,425 for towing and recovery, plus $1,075 in "waiting fees" just because it was nighttime. This seemed excessively high for a basic ditch extraction, and included unauthorized extras like steam cleaning and battery jump-starting that we didn't request or approve. To make matters worse, they chained our truck to their truck and wouldn't release it without full payment. They even denied our driver access to the cab to get important documents and tools, forcing us to call the police several times. Only after police intervention were we allowed inside. Under this pressure, we had no choice but to pay $8,500 by comcheck just to get our truck back and leave, even though we disputed the charges. This experience caused major downtime for our business and added unnecessary stress and costs. It's disappointing to see such tactics from a local business. Potential customers should be aware and consider alternatives for towing services. We hope they improve their transparency and customer treatment to avoid similar issues for others.
