I carry 20 display cases with Turquoise Native American Jewelry along with a huge amount of Wedding Sets. We also repair and custom make jewelry. I was working in Austin, Texas as a construction worker and got laid off because the company was loosing money. At that point I did not know what to do or where to turn. I was I was 37 years old and could not make my house payment and could not make ends meet. I finally made a decision to change careers and to try my luck at buying gold since it was at an all time high. I sold everything I owned and opened Wichita Gold Exchange with a partner. I was scared and had no idea if it would work or not. My partner and I split ways and I moved to Lawton, Oklahoma and opened Lawton Gold Exchange. In the beginning just paying the bills was a blessing There are so many expenses when opening a new business. There is lots of paperwork and all kinds of licenses and insurance that I had to purchase. In the beginning I was nervous and thought I would fail for sure. But month after month I noticed that I was never late paying rent and that I was capable of paying my bills on time. That alone was a major accomplishment for me and a huge stress relief. As I began to buy a lot of scrap gold I noticed there were a lot of new pieces of jewelry coming in to my store that were never worn and never used by the customers. I normally would just melt the jewelry down and send it to the refinery. However I thought about keeping some of the nicer pieces and sell back to the public for discounted rates. I kept a few silver bracelets and a few silver rings to sell. When I saw the response of the community how inexpensive they could buy it from me I felt I was on to something. At that moment I thought how great it would be to fill a showcase up with jewelry. I had always dreamed of owning a jewelry store but deep down inside I knew a construction worker would fail for sure. But I stayed positive and refused to fail. I worked seven days a week and long hours for years and I was determined not to be a failure. I worked Saturdays and Sundays to make sure I paid the bills on time. I finally found a job that lit my heart on fire! A job that could put smiles on peoples faces and a job that I could give back to the community. Here it is six years later and I am still in business. The shop now has twenty new showcases full of refurbished and new custom made jewelry along with a huge amount of Native American Jewelry. Most jewelry is marked half price what would normally be paid at a regular jewelry store. The savings here are incredible!
