Personal background Having worked with clocks in my personal collection for many years and often being asked by friends and acquaintances to sort out problems with their family clocks. The next step was formal training at the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors -School of Horology, followed by an apprenticeship under a Certified Master Clockmaker Edwin U Sowers, III in Cornwall PA (now deceased). There is no end to what can be learned in this field. There is always a clock movement that you have never seen before. This involves study of the theoretical aspects of time keeping & clock design, and practical work in repairing & making clock parts. To my knowledge the oldest clock I have worked on has been a 1775 Tall Case Clock.
