I own a 1968 Olds Cutlass - my pride and joy. After a mishap with a telephone pole (they're tricky at night . . .ninja-like), I needed some front end work. Unfortunately, I don't have it insured for collision, so this would be out of pocket expenses. But it was nothing huge, a dented fender needing some bondo and paint and a bumper that had to be pulled out. I estimated the labor to be around $600 and parts (paint) about $75. I took it to several body shops (mostly insurance repair joints like Kelly's and Precision) and four flat out refused to do the work without giving me a quote. I couldn't believe it - they were turning down a job because they could make more money overcharging some insurance company. I also took the car to Luxury Auto Body on Howell Mill - who quoted me a price of $1,400 to maybe $5,000 (!!!). The last place I checked out was City Auto Body. The neighborhood isn't the best, but low overhead means reasonable prices. The owners, Al and Percy, are the nicest guys on the planet. They did a great job, and the best part - only charged me $400. Do yourselves a favor - go here first. And stay away from Luxury Auto Body - they are complete scammers.
