I just received very unfavorable service from Western Union. A few days ago I purchashed 3 Wester Union Gold Cards from a agent at Foodland Farms Lahaina #42 in the following denominations- $350.00, $750.00 and $750.00. The agent said that these cards WOULD be accepted at any ONLINE booking site (ie. airline, cruises, hotels, cars, etc.), WRONG!!! Costco.com says they do not accept these cards as they are considered "gift cards". I have since moved the $350.00 and one $750.00 card to another "prepaid debit card" via a intuit scan program. Tonight I tried to get the balance of the 3rd card and a western union agent could not be of any assistance. To verify my identity besides my name and mailing address he needed the "registered" phone number. All I asked is that if he could tell me what the balance was. The first 2 cards I was able to call in or look up the info at the westerunion website. I mentioned to YEEP (so i think that was his name) that all I needed was the balance on the card to be able to have the charge machine charge the correct amount. He said he could not give out any information since I could not verify the phone number. I mentioned to him that the "agent" who sold me the cards perhaps entered the incorrect phone number (which i find to be upsetting as he entered the other 2 correctly) and can I verify the card by providing information from the original purchase receipt, he said NO.
