Bing Places for Business
Bing Places for Business is the free listing service that makes your company easier to find for customers using the Bing search engine. Although fewer people use Bing for internet searches in comparison to Google, Bing Places is still important. Bing is the default search engine for Windows, and Bing has a partnership with Yelp, so Yelp content, photos, and reviews show up on Bing Places listings. Those factors make Bing listings a useful tool to help your company rank higher in local search results.

Go to bingplaces.com. If you have a Microsoft account, use it to sign in. If you don't have a Microsoft account, sign up for one. You'll need it to use Bing Places for Business. Once you have logged in, click the "Get Started" button.

Next, you'll find yourself on the Bing Places search page. Type your business name and location into the search fields to see if your company information is already in Bing's business database.

If your business is already listed on Bing Places, it will appear. Click on "Claim Business" if you see your company. If you do not see your company, click the "Create New Business" button.

The next page will include a form in which you can add—or correct—your location and contact information. Make sure the info you add here is consistent with your business listing on other directories and your own website. Accurate business listings are key to boosting your rank in search engines. Work your way through each section of this form, correcting or adding information about your business. When you're done, click the "Next" button near the bottom of your screen.

On the next page, enter the category that best describes your business. In the case of JS-1 Construction, that would be "Construction Services."

Enter your phone number and email address. These should be the number and email that customers will see in your Bing Places profile and use to get in touch with your company; do not list your personal contact information. You should also link your Bing Profile to your company Facebook and Twitter pages by entering your profile addresses in the Bing form.

The next screen will prompt you to add your business hours. This is a step that your customers will appreciate — as long as you keep your information accurate and updated! Make a point of updating your company information on Bing (and on all of your listings online) if you ever change your hours, move to a new location, or get a different phone number.

This next screen asks you to upload photos of your business. While this is an optional step, the best business listings are those that are rich with content. You can upload up to 10 photos. They must be at least 480 x 360 pixels to be added to your profile. Bing suggests including two photos of the exterior of your business to help customers recognize your location; interior photos that show customers what to expect when they come inside; and photos of your products, your service providers in action or samples of your previous work. When you're finished adding photos, click "Submit."

The next page will ask you to enter your email address so Bing can send you a PIN to verify your business listing. Verifying that you own the business you're listing prevents anyone besides you or your authorized employees from editing your Bing Places listing.
Once your listing is verified, it will appear on Bing Places. Internet searchers, especially customers in your area, will be able to see all of your photos, contact information, hours and a map to help them navigate right to your door.
