Sandy Thorpe grew up on the coast of Wrightsville Beach hunting and fishing. As a child, he watched his grandfather build a custom Carolina sportfish boat, which gave rise to many days offshore together as well. Along the way, the passion to carve out a future career in boating was born. After attending Virginia Episcopal School, Sandy went to Chapman’s School of Seamanship and obtained his 100-ton USCG license. He applied his hands-on knowledge-base, formal training and quest to work on the water as a delivery captain traveling to the Texas Gulf Coast, the Bahamas, and Northeast. Sandy went back to Chapman’s to add Marine Surveyor to his skillset. When not documenting boat conditions, Sandy continues to help with deliveries, yacht maintenance and as a private captain
