I have been installing and repairing Two Way Radio systems for over 45 years. I stock good used Motorola Base Stations, Receivers, Comparators, and Cabinets. Many government agencies get grant funds to purchase new radio systems. They remove their good working equipment and much of it goes up for sale in auctions. I pick up the best of these units when they become available. These units are cleaned, tested, and aligned to meet factory specifications. The Quantar series equipment was built for heavy duty use such as in Public Safety. It is not unusual to see this type of equipment operate for up to 30 years with routine maintenance. The cost of this equipment is typically half of the cost of new equipment and is expected to last another 10 to 15 years in normal service.
