Totally Awesome Goods was founded by Jay and Gayle Alpert. Both have strong background in retail -- Gayle was the operations manager for the Times Square Disney store. Jay ran a catalog and web company, here in Connecticut. It was Jay who came up with the concept for Totally Awesome Goods. "I wanted to come up with a gift store that was unique and special and will stand apart from others on the Connecticut shoreline." The name was a big bone of connection between Jay and Gayle. Gayle was concerned about the name setting expectations too high. But the response from customers have told us, we picked the right name. One of the best endorsements for the name came last Spring. "We had our front door open and we heard two women out
