Project Canine was conceived in 2006 by a dedicated group of professional dog trainers, educators, and experienced therapy dog volunteers as an effort to better bridge the communication gap between humans and canines. As the project grew, that effort took several distinct but interrelated directions: Connecting Canines (therapy animal training and certification) Bow Wows and Books (children’s literacy in partnership with the Seattle Public Library) Operation Opie (bite prevention education) Bridges to Compassion (humane education) While Project Canine achieved 501(c)3 status in 2009, we started providing community service almost immediately after beginning operation in 2007.
