Cujo . . . is the nickname for owner Curtis Jordan, who was an outstanding defensive back at Lubbock Monterey High School and Texas Tech University. He went on to play in the NFL for 11 seasons … with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1976 - 1982 and then with the Washington Redskins from 1982 - 1987. The two Super Bowl rings are the ones Curtis received for playing in the 1982 Super Bowl against the Miami Dolphins and the 1983 Super Bowl against the Oakland Raiders. While playing for the Redskins, Curtis opened several successful restaurants in the Washington, D.C. area and knew that this was to be his career after his playing days were over. In 1992, Curtis 'came home' to Lubbock and continued in the restaurant business opening the old Whaler's Bay and in 1999, he opened Cujo's Sports Bar & Grill. In addition to great food, fun atmosphere and the coldest beer in Texas, it is truly a monument to the world of sports. Much of the memorabilia you see on the walls at Cujo's comes from Curtis' private collection.
