Reiki healing and meditation are both modalities that have proven benefits in the wellness and medical industries. My goal as a Reiki Master Teacher and Practitioner is bring the knowledge of these healing options to the public eye and show the world how the power of healing can be put in each individual's hands. Bare Roots Energy began as a Jewelry Boutique in 2009, with a focus on using organic materials such as bone and stone, woven into metal and leather, as a medium to bring nature to the bedazzled. Since, it has slowly grown into an energy and wellness practice, providing Reiki and other modalities of healing therapy, and meditation services. Reiki and meditation have both been intertwined in my path since childhood. While in college I had the honor of meeting an incredibly powerful energy healer in Manhattan, Ks, who pulled me through some trauma and taught me how I had been manipulating my own energy since a young age. Prior to settling down and starting my own business, I studied at K-State and KU, graduating with a bachelor's and 2 master's degrees in Special Education. In 2018, with the nudge of a wonderful old friend, I obtained my Reiki Practitioner's License; levels I and II, and in 2020, my Reiki Master's License, level III, and continue my training and learning in the holistic arts of healing. ​ As part of my practice, I focus on educating, healing, and empowering others to live their best lives. My approach is a combination of energy work, with an integrated approach of meditation and frequency sound healing. Having extensive experience in the behavioral arts from my life as a teacher has afforded me insight into the human condition and its subtleties. The experience of helping students shape themselves into little humans was an honor given to me, and one that I hope I aim at continuing through my energy work and writings. Aside from my Masters in Education, I have been trained in Usui Holy Fire Reiki Ryoho, Usui Shiki Ryoho, Karuna Reiki, The Crystalline Consciousness Technique, New Earth Reiki, and Dragon Reiki. For nearly 20 years Dr. Wes has served families with state-of-the art psychological services. Having trained with some of the masters in the field, he is skilled and experienced in addressing a wide array of problems using the natural energy of the family system. Dr. Wes is a Kansas Licensed Psychologist and Board Certified in Couples & Family Psychology (ABPP). He has served Lawrence families since 1999. He co-authors the Double Take column, published weekly since 2004 in Monday's GO! section of the Lawrence Journal World. Dr. Wes received his PhD from KU in 1994, founded an internship for doctoral students in 1996, and the Family Therapy Institute Midwest in 1999. He served as its director until December 2010. He now practices through his own Family Psychological Services LLC.
