Raihan Saffron began at a kitchen table in Lynn, Massachusetts, with a family who grew up cooking with real Afghan saffron and could no longer find it on American shelves. What passed for saffron here was too often powder, dyed thread, or a blend padded with the flavorless yellow style of the flower. So we went back to the source. Our family has known Herat saffron since 1996, and we buy directly from a cooperative of family growers in the Herat highlands of Afghanistan. No brokers, no repackage...
