I never thought I would actually finish this book. Life kept getting in the way, and I had convinced myself my writing was not good enough to share. But Brooklyn Publications changed my mindset from our very first conversation, treating me like an author. Their price felt fair compared to other places I had researched, and I really appreciated that since my budget was tight. The final book turned out perfect and readable, and I have already sent three friends to their website. So I guess that says everything.

I came here to talk with honesty because I made a lot of messy things in my manuscript and I knew it but I didn't quite know how to untangle them without losing the soul of the story, and the first person I spoke with at the agency didn't try to dazzle me with fancy sales talk but instead asked me what was keeping me up at night about my own writing which threw me off guard because nobody had ever asked me that before. The proofreading part was straightforward enough but what really got me was how they handled those final two chapters because I had completely painted myself into a corner with the plot and my writer didn't just take over and write them in his own style, he sent me long rambling emails asking about my grandmother and what I wanted the reader to remember after closing the book, and then he delivered something that sounded so much like me that I actually got teary eyed sitting at my kitchen table reading it back. The Amazon KDP upload process gave me actual headaches and there was one stretch where my project manager went quiet for two days which made me nervous but her colleague jumped in and fixed a formatting disaster with the table of contents before I even knew it was broken, so I cannot say everything was flawless but I can say they treated my story like it mattered to them just as much as it mattered to me and that is a rare thing to find these days.

I came in with a rough manuscript and no idea how Amazon KDP actually worked. They cleaned up the writing, sorted the account setup, and walked me through the publishing side without making it feel complicated. The author website they built as part of the package was a nice bonus I didn't expect to actually like.

The writing process was more collaborative than I expected. I would send voice notes and rough points and what came back was polished and structured in a way I could not have done myself in that timeframe. KDP setup was handled cleanly and the book went live without any technical hiccups. My name is on a published book and that still feels strange to say.

I wanted something that felt like me and not like a generic author template and that is what I got. The typography choices, the layout, the way the about page is structured, it all feels intentional. People who visit the site for the first time consistently comment on how clear it is which was the main thing I asked for from day one.
