Chimney sweeping is about cleaning the chimney and the fireplace and a quick inspection. When cleaning, the chimney sweeper will clear any ash, soot, and creosote that has accumulated in the flue. Removal of any build-up creosote is crucial as the creosote can be extremely flammable and the accidental sparks from creosote are a major cause of chimney fires. Alongside cleaning the chimney the sweeper should also examine the accessible parts of the chimney and fireplace. The visual inspection will help to identify roof areas that are damaged or deterioration before they develop into serious chimney problems.
