Today Westport and the surrounding area is still a thriving community of artists. Actors Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward called Westport home, as well as Keith Richards, Nile Rogers, and Leonard Bernstein. Writers have continued to relocate here from New York City, including Shirley Jackson, Jane Yolen, Robert Ludlum, Jane Green, and Shonda Rhimes, to name a few. For the past 20 years, Westport Writers’ Workshop has been a beacon of the literary arts community. Our mission to enrich, support, educate and connect local and nationwide writers pays tribute to this legacy. We are the place where writers go for every stage of creative development to learn, revise, edit and publish.
