Awaken Church Awaken Church started in 2005 when our lead pastors Jurgen and Leanne Matthesius moved their small family away from friends and family to plant a church on the other side of the world. From humble beginnings meeting in hotels, school gymnasiums and performing arts centers, Awaken Church has grown from being just a vision in Ps. Jurgen and Ps. Leanne’s hearts to now being a multi-campus and multi-generational church seeing lives changed and impacted every week. We focus on showing everyone the love, redemption, and salvation of Jesus Christ by caring passionately about people and connecting them to the one true God. Our San Marcos church offers church services, women's ministry, men's ministry, children's ministry, and church live streams. San Marcos is known for a lot of things - its beautiful weather, its diverse population, and its dedication to environmental causes. But San Marcos is also home to a thriving church community, and one of the most active and vibrant churches in the city. Awaken Church is dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping people to find and follow Him. The church offers a variety of programs and services, including Sunday worship services, Bible study groups, youth groups, and community service projects. In addition, Awaken Church is also active in the local San Diego community, hosting events and workshops on topics like financial literacy and healthy relationships. Whether you're looking for a new place to worship or just want to learn more about the Christian faith, Awaken Church is a great place to start.
