We were referred to work with Jay at JC Concepts, and unfortunately, our experience was not a positive one. In the beginning, Jay came across as personable, confident, and reassuring. During our initial meetings, we were told that our budget - nearly $200,000 - was considered a "healthy budget" and that the project we envisioned would be very achievable. As the planning process progressed, however, the reality became very different from what was originally presented to us. We were led to believe that the scope of work and features we requested would fit comfortably within our budget, only to later receive a quote that exceeded our maximum budget by approximately $45,000. We were then told we would need to significantly increase our budget to move forward. Even after making substantial compromises and downsizing the project by hundreds of square feet, the pricing adjustments did not appear proportional to the reductions being made. The cost savings simply did not align with what would reasonably be expected based on the amount of space and features removed from the project. What was most disappointing was the feeling that expectations were set unrealistically from the start. When working with someone who has decades of experience in the industry, we expected straightforward guidance and honest communication about what was and was not realistically achievable within our budget. Instead, we felt misled throughout much of the process. We strongly encourage anyone considering JC Concepts to do thorough research, seek multiple opinions, and compare estimates before committing. Our experience taught us that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
