Growing up in apartheid-era South Africa, immigrating to Canada in 1986 with her mother, then moving to Syracuse, NY to be with her now-husband in 2011, and then moving with her husband and two children to Charlotte, NC in 2022 has been quite the journey for Annaliese. Some say that so much change has allowed her to see things from a unique perspective. Passionate about saving and protecting animals, Annaliese was given the nickname Artemis—after the Greek goddess—by her husband Tedd. For those who don’t know, the goddess Artemis was always depicted with her bow and quiver of arrows. She was a protector of young animals and had a gift for taming wild beasts. The monicker fit perfectly with Annaliese’s involvement in animal rescue groups and working with strays. When she started her journey into the world of photography, a comment was made that, much like the goddess Artemis, Annaliese too carried a bow and arrow, but hers came in the form of her Canon DSLR camera. After all, they are both used for shooting. Baptism by fire best describes Annaliese’s humble beginning. It started when she partnered with her husband on a project titled Studio Bums®—a New York-based music journal and lifestyle brand. She was tasked with handling product images, photo journalism, as well as video assets for the project. This was where she got most of her on-the-job training for product photography… and Artemis the Product Photographer was born. Annaliese has been published many times in print and news publications during her photography journey. Several of her images were featured in news publications such as The Southside Stand and The Post Standard. Also, her images were used in promotional material for an exhibition at the Everson Museum of Art. Since 2013, Annaliese has held herself accountable for providing the highest quality images for e-commerce and print, helping brands improve their conversion rates with still images (white background and creative), as well as Interactive 360 Spin, and Stop Motion.
